Service Learning
Compassion, respect, and service to others are values integral to The Stanley Clark School culture and learning environment. Students from preschool through 8th grade engage in service learning as a core component of their education. From collecting hats and mittens for children in need to serving at various organizations throughout the community, students are taught what it means to care for others. Service learning happens both on and off campus and impacts multiple non-profit agencies each year.
Partnering with Local and Global Organizations for a Greater Impact
While many of the organizations we partner with stay consistent from year to year, as a school, we are always discovering new ways to get involved with those doing amazing work both locally and globally. Organizations are often selected based on students' interests and passions. Whether it's an advisory shopping for local students around the holidays, 1st graders collecting canned goods, or 7th-grade art students learning to honor children around the world with a hand-drawn portrait through The Memory Project, our students are passionate about giving back!

Angel Tree Program - Grade 8
Passionate about supporting local children this past holiday season, Mrs. Kurnyak’s 8th Grade Advisory decided to participate in Kroc Center of South Bend's annual Angel Tree program. Students shopped with funds raised from a dress-down day for Clark students and were delighted to donate over $1,000 in gifts!
Thanksgiving Meals - Student Council
When middle school student council members heard about a need in our local community, they were quick to get on board! Students were eager to visit Martin's to purchase items for a local church to use to provide a Thanksgiving meal for families in our neighborhood. In addition, they assembled take-home meal boxes for those families to use on Thanksgiving Day. Service learning, character, and leadership are such an important part of our students' experience here at Clark!
St. Jude Hospital - Grade 7
For Service Learning Day, 7th graders chose to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by selling, cooking, and serving a pasta lunch to SCS middle school students. Not only did they raise nearly $900, but 7th graders really valued the opportunity to help others and take on a leadership role!
