Learning, fun, and community don't end once the school day concludes. In fact, after school, our campus is full of enrichment activities for students of all ages. From rehearsals for the school play to engaging after-school clubs, athletic competitions to Science Olympiad practices, students are busy taking learning to the next level.

Our Extended Day program provides a safe, caring environment for preschool through 8th-grade students whose parents require childcare services beyond the traditional school day. We provide both morning and afternoon care, which you may use regularly or on a drop-in basis. However, advance notice is always helpful and appreciated. Charges are based on usage and billed monthly to the student account.

For students in preschool through grade 4, a typical afternoon includes a variety of the following:

• Time for relaxation and a snack
• Indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) activities
• Arts and crafts
• Games
• Homework help
• Special projects and activities

For students in grades 5-8, Extended Day offers study hall. Middle school students can work on homework, collaborate with peers on group projects, and receive homework help from SCS faculty.

The Stanley Clark School draws families from seven counties in Indiana and Michigan and two time zones (EST and CST). As a result, we offer bus transportation to Elkhart, LaPorte, Granger, and northern South Bend.

Bus routes are designed to accommodate the greatest number of students in the safest, most expedient manner each day. We use centralized bus stop locations whenever possible. Safety is always the top priority in our transportation plan. We finalize routes in August, before the start of school. We make every effort to maintain route continuity each year. However, demographic changes may require changes to pick-up and drop-off points.

Our after-school program, Clark Clubs, offers students a great opportunity to be creative, innovative, and have fun while perhaps trying something new! Families can count on small club sizes, unique offerings, and enriched learning. A variety of Clark Clubs are offered during semesters 1 and 2 and typically meet once a week. Students in preschool through grade 8 have the opportunity to go on field trips throughout the school year. Because Stanley Clark owns its own buses, we schedule field trips more frequently than you might expect, allowing faculty to enhance lessons with academically enriching off-campus experiences. School-wide, we take approximately 75 field trips annually!

The Stanley Clark School takes food allergies seriously and is committed to protecting students with severe food allergies by limiting potential food allergens from entering the school. Keeping students safe involves the whole community: students with food allergies and their classmates, parents, faculty, staff, and guests. Because students bring snacks and lunch to school, the community must stay vigilant about keeping peanuts and tree nuts away from students with allergies.

Grades preschool through 4th grade are entirely peanut- and tree nut-free. This means that items containing peanuts, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, hazelnuts, pine nuts, macadamia nuts, or other tree nuts may not be brought to school for snacks, lunches, field trips, or any event.

The school community enjoys a full-time nurse situated in a professional-grade clinician’s office who ensures the school’s health compliance with the State of Indiana. Professional organizations such as the National Association of School Nurses, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and FARE guide school health practices.

Jackie Scheel, RN, helps to manage student health concerns and ensure a safe environment for all students. She frequently visits classrooms to check on students with chronic medical issues or those who have recently recovered from an illness. Mrs. Scheel knows every student with a medical issue and supports students and families with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. To reach Mrs. Scheel, email nurse@stanleyclark.org.

All students in preschool through grade 8 have a mid-morning snack each day, providing a break and a chance to refuel. Students bring their own snack from home to enjoy; it must be peanut- and tree-nut-free in grades preschool through grade 4.

Students have lunch on campus, Monday-Thursday, and are dismissed before lunchtime on Fridays. Students are welcome to pack and bring their own meal or order ahead from one of our local restaurant vendors, when available (typically 2 days per week). Our Parents' Association coordinates all meal orders and distribution through our Tiger Café, which helps offset the costs of the 7th- and 8th-grade week-long, end-of-the-year class trips. In addition, we offer a hot dog meal, "Hockey Dogs," on a few Wednesdays each month to support the hockey program at Stanley Clark.

At The Stanley Clark School, student health and safety come first. The school regularly conducts emergency drills, complies with all fire and safety regulations, maintains an emergency response plan, and welcomes routine visits from the South Bend Police Department.

Summer at Clark gives your child the opportunity to create, learn, and grow. Campers will explore unique, exciting topics taught by our qualified faculty or specialized professionals.
