Class of 2022 Personal Memoir: Ruby
Ruby, Class of 2022
Class of 2022, Ruby

On my first day at Stanley Clark in 8th grade, I woke up, and it was pitch black outside. I didn't want to get out of bed. I was a little nervous when I got off the bus and entered school because it was all unknown to me. I was worried when I saw all these people in the hallway, but everyone was so friendly, and I began to relax. They came up to me and asked me if I was new and what my name was. I was ready to slip right in and excited to make new friends. I was excited about the curriculum because it was different from my old school and classes!

I felt even more relaxed after some minor interactions on my first day. I was walking by myself when two kids named Libby and Quinn came and talked to me. It was charming. One of the teachers that made me more comfortable in school was Mr. Hunter. When I first came into class, he was funny and joking around. I also went to public speaking and forgot my pencil and this kid named Yonatan gave me one. It was all the small gestures that made me feel comfortable.

Sometimes I would wake up in the morning and wouldn't want to go to school because I kept reliving the first day and was a tiny bit nervous every time. But each day wasn't how I kept imagining it in my head. Stanley Clark makes me feel alive in learning because I want to know everything, even if I don't always get the best grade. At Stanley Clark, everyone smiles at me and is friendly, and I love all the laughing I've done with my friends. It is the best learning experience I have ever had.
