I was so excited to go to school today. It was the 8th-grade legacy retreat. I did not need a backpack, just a water bottle and myself. As I headed to advisory, I could already picture what that day would look like. All the 8th-grade advisors headed to the Iroquois gym to assemble. As the teachers talked about what we would do when we got to Rum Village, I couldn't wait. As we headed to the bus, all I could think about was going to the high ropes course. When we arrived, we quickly got off, got into our groups, and did mini activities before starting the high ropes course. Our first group was the social contract discussion with Mr. Younts and Mrs. Kurnyak. We talked about what we need to focus on for this year for the social contract and discussed the rules. When we finished, we headed to the courses. A worker helped us put on our gear, and we put on our helmets and harness. I was so excited and nervous to enter the course. Once I had climbed the first steps to enter the actual course, I was ready to start. Corriana and I went to an easy one first. When we were on the course, I thought that this is all about teamwork and encouraging others and yourself. I told Corriana that she could do it, and I believed in her and myself. Once we finished our first course, we felt like we could do anything beyond this point. We asked the lady that worked there if we could do the big course, but she had said no that we were not ready for the big one, which was fine. We did an easy one and accomplished it. Corriana and I had so much fun doing the second easy course. We had asked again if we could do the big course, and the lady had said yes. I went first this time and promised Corriana I wouldn't leave her. Corriana didn't have her glasses and had never done high ropes before. I had left her because I saw Brian was helping Corriana, so I went ahead and regretted it because the whole point was to be with Corriana, and I had let her down. So, once I finished the challenging course, I went to cheer on Corriana and realized it's important to encourage others.
