Class of 2022 Personal Memoir: Maddie

Maddie, Class of 2022

I came to Stanley Clark for the first time this year, in 8th grade, and it was my first experience changing schools. I was both excited and nervous on the first day of school, but everyone made me feel welcome immediately. While I’ve only been going to school here for a few weeks, I already feel more comfortable and accepted than ever before. In my experience, it’s really hard going to a new place where you don’t know anyone, but both the staff and students at Stanley Clark make the transition a lot easier. There are more kids than I’m used to, but somehow it still feels like a very close community. Everyone’s friendly with each other, and people make sure that no one ever feels left out.

The moment I walked through the door for my tour of Stanley Clark, I knew deep down that it was going to be the perfect fit for me. I got to meet several staff members that day, and every single one of them was extremely kind and welcoming. I could tell immediately that I would enjoy going to school here. The campus is a lot bigger than my old school’s was, but not too big. The idea of transferring schools was terrifying to me, but knowing that I would be able to go to a place like Stanley Clark made me feel a lot better about it.

Stanley Clark is challenging but in a fun way. The teachers always make sure you understand everything, and they are always patient and considerate if you don’t. I never thought I would enjoy going to school this much. Everyone is always there for each other at Stanley Clark, which has made me feel a lot more comfortable during this new experience.

I feel really lucky to be able to attend a school like Stanley Clark. The people here are accepting, encouraging, and understanding. My only regret is not finding out about Stanley Clark sooner. I wish I could have gone here when I was younger so that I could experience this tight-knit community for a longer period of time. Going to Stanley Clark is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
