Class of 2019 Spotlight: Lyza
Lindsey Hab, Director of Marketing and Communications
Lyza

Meet Lyza

She started at Clark as a 4-year-old preschooler and enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, singing, making bracelets, and watching YouTube. Lyza has been very involved at Clark – serving as Student Council Vice President in 7th grade and participating in Speech Team and Science Olympiad. She’s also acted in a middle school play each year. Most recently she played Puck in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Lyza plays volleyball and basketball and won the Sportsmanship Award in 6th grade.

How Lyza Describes Clark

"Clark is a very inclusive place where everyone can feel welcome. Learning is so much fun. Because of the small learning environment, we really get an opportunity to get to know our teachers and our teachers get to know us."

Favorite Field Trip

"My top two favorite field trips were to Canada and Chicago, both in 7th grade. In Canada, we learned about the art of theatre and how it was incorporated into our society now and in the past. In Chicago, we played in a basketball tournament. I had a lot of fun with friends and it was neat to play in a new place.”

Favorite Part of Going to School Here

"I love how kind everyone is. No matter who you are or how quirky you are, everyone just embraces it and takes you in as one of their own."

Favorite Class Project

"One of my favorite projects was the Native American project I did in 3rd grade with Mr. Matthys. I studied the Nez Perce tribe. We had to write a small report on them after doing research and then create a visual aid. To go with that we had to bring in a food that the tribe typically ate."

How She’s Been Challenged or Grown at Clark

“The amount of homework at Clark has helped me grow. To be able to accomplish it all correctly and in an organized manner, I had to learn how to properly manage my time. Over the years, I have learned, of course, that leaving something to the last week or day isn't a very good idea. However, I have also learned how to get things done more efficiently and thoroughly.”

Favorite Teacher

“I’ve had many teachers over my time at Clark but the two I think have connected with me and made my day better are probably Mrs. Wilson or Mr. Younts. I don’t tend to like English class very much, but Mrs. Wilson is just so much fun to be around. Mr. Younts is just so funny and sarcastic and understanding.”

What Makes Clark Special?

“There are so few people, that you get to know everyone and everyone is your family.”
