Alexis

Meet Alexis

She started at Clark in preschool alongside her identical twin sister, Abigail. “We are very similar but small things are different. For instance, I’ve always liked pink and she’s always liked purple.”

Alexis loves horseback riding, listening to music and going to concerts. Over the last four years she’s been doing aerial arts – specifically silk and lyra at Elite Sports Academy. She also recently started hip hop dance at KK’s Dance Academy.

At SCS she has run cross-country all four years of middle school and has tried dance, yoga, and golf. She also participates in ice hockey which is her favorite sport at SCS. “The game itself is interesting. I tried ice hockey for the first time at Clark and had never played before.” In addition, she’s done makeup for the school play each year and in 4th grade won the Ann Clark Gundlach Memorial Award Scholarship for outstanding behavior.

How Alexis Describes Clark

“Clark is a school where everyone knows each other. It is filled with wonderful students that you can make friends with easily.”

Favorite Field Trip

“One field trip that stood out to me was in 1st grade. We went to Mayor Pete’s office. To me, this was one of the coolest things I did in lower school. We drew a picture and got to talk to him and ask questions.”

Favorite Part of Going to School Here

“Everyone in classes is so inclusive and volunteer to work with you. You are never left out. You always have someone to work with even if they are not your closest friend.”

Memorable Class Project

“In 5th grade, we did Invention Alley where I studied the creator of the first digital camera. This was very memorable because it was the first time I had to memorize a whole speech and say it in front of other people.”

How She’s Grown at Clark

“My first few years at Clark I was really shy and didn’t like talking to people that I was not close friends with. As the years went on, I am now able to talk to everyone and meet new people.”

Favorite Teacher

“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Kurnyak. I had her in 5th and 6th grade for math and now 7th and 8th grade for science. She’s been an amazing teacher since day one. Mrs. Kurnyak has a way of always making everyone in the class feel special. She always helps when I am struggling with something, or need help to answer questions.”

What Makes Clark Special?

“Clark seems to have a different feel than other schools. It's a place where you know everyone and can be open with them without being judged.”
