Welcome From the Director of Middle School

Tara Grove, Director of Middle School

Welcome to the Middle School program at Stanley Clark! Our innovative and experiential program for Grades 5-8 honors each middle school student's independence, curiosity, and creativity. Experienced and nurturing educators build relationships with their students, allowing them to excel in all academic and extra-curricular activities. Our faculty design engaging learning opportunities, hands-on experiences that highlight our student's interests, and a rigorous educational foundation as they prepare for high school.

Our mission highlights that students find their passions and strengths while at Clark. We seek to achieve this by providing experiences in Middle School where students explore and engage daily in our four pillars: academics, arts, athletics, and character development. We embed social, academic, and leadership skill preparation in students' learning to ensure they have a solid foundation for success during these impactful years.

We look forward to partnering with you and creating a relationship with each of our families at Clark. Please reach out with any questions at tgrove@stanleyclark.org or to learn more. I would be delighted to share more about our approach and discuss how our Middle School program could be the life-changing next step in your student's life.

Kind Regards,

Tara Grove

Middle School at Stanley Clark

Middle School students graduate from Stanley Clark prepared for success in high school and beyond. Our challenging curriculum allows students to dig deep into the academic areas of mathematics, English, foreign language (Spanish, French and Latin), social studies, science and technology.

Students also explore drama, visual arts and music as part of their regular curriculum. An extensive athletic program, built into the school day, promotes physical health and good sportsmanship.

To aid in their success, students learn important study skills, engage in collaborative learning, participate in interdisciplinary projects, and are involved in an advisory program to cultivate social, ethical and emotional skills.

The middle school experience at The Stanley Clark School is unparalleled. In the last 10 years alone, 22 area high school valedictorians, 23 National Merit Scholars and 9 National Merit Scholar Finalists have been Stanley Clark graduates. Each year between 16-20 high schools come to campus for our annual High School Night to recruit our students, 99% of whom enroll in college.

Experiential Learning

The Stanley Clark School is the place for those who love to learn. We engage, explore, compose, create. Opportunities abound for experiential learning, from on-site laboratories and flipped classrooms to local and long distance immersions and excursions.

"As an ISACS teacher now and a teacher who has taught in a variety of settings, I would say the immersive experiences (Water Watchers, the Bug Collection, the trimester cabarets, the Media Center, World Language classes, research papers, etc.), all have a tremendous impact on me."
~ Christopher Hindsley, SCS Class of '00

Middle School Curriculum

Challenging. Inspiring. Engaging. These are a few words used to describe the unique Stanley Clark curriculum. The academic experience of students is complemented with education in the arts, athletics and character - an empowering combination that results in graduates who lead, volunteer, inspire and excel. Course descriptions may be found below. Please note that our responsive, adaptive pedagogy and desire to meet students' educational needs may necessitate additions, modifications or deletions to the curriculum midyear.
